Jargon is invented as a verbal shortcut so that people in a profession don't have to repeat long strings of words. It also tells other workers exactly what the person is talking about in a clear way. Jargon also helps to solidify the group as a social entity.

Titles

Only approved titles may be used by securities reps. Regardless of the medium for which you are communicating (ie social media, business cards, email signatures, etc.) you may only use the approved titles chosen by the Compliance Department.

  • Financial Consultant or Insurance Agent (for Life-only licensed reps).
  • Registered Representative (RR) (Series 6).
  • Financial Advisor or Investment Adviser Representative (IAR) (if you hold a Series 65 license).
  • Registered Principal (if you hold a series 26 license).
  • Branch Manager (if you are a FINRA registered Branch Manager).


Acronyms, Abbreviations


Production and Revenue

  • Revenue or Production = all of the types of revenue listed below added together. It is the total payout from our product providers.
  • GDC = Gross Dealer Concession. Securities broker/dealer production.
  • GAP = Gross Advisory Production. Securities Advisory fees production, reported on an annual basis.
  • ARR = Annual Recurring Revenue. This is annual securities revenue, expressed in GDC, this is residual, meaning it pays-out annually (sometimes quarterly, but we measure it on an annual basis). The is generated from 12b-1 trails, c-shares, variable annuities, fee-based and automatic monthly drafts (AMD).
  • GIP = Gross Insurance Production. Includes life insurance and long-term care.
  • GTP = Gross Trust Production. $500 of production per Heritage Living Trust.
  • DCA = Dollar Cost Averaging. When a client sets-up a consistent, electronic monthly transfer from their checking account to their investment account. This is also referred to as "Pre-Authorized Checking (PAC)" or "Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT)".
  • AMF = American Funds.
  • ICA = Investment Company of America mutual fund.
  • GFA = Growth Fund of America mutual fund.
  • NPF = New Perspective Fund mutual fund.
